''Early this week it had been reported Israel was considering such a step, and that Pentagon officials had been dispatched to try to talk Israel out of the invasion, warning it would bolster Assad’s position.''

nonsense pentagon, this is all backed by the US.
Barak isnt considering a full scale invasion but a pre-emptive strike, means; Just like what they've done in libya and want to do on iran. airstrikes on military targets. In israel's case; the homes of innocents.

But i find this article a bit of panicking. the israelis clearly said they're still monitoring the situation and will keep doing so. Until they've given the order....

No the Americans are right about that, if anything unifies Syrians, its their dislike and distrust for Israel, an attack by them would bolster Assad's position that this uprising is staged by foreign powers who wish to destabilize Syria and collapse it.

Israel may be bluffing because with Syria having a strong regional ally like Iran, it would be too cowardly to attack.

Iran needs to be disarmed first, this bluff may be to placate Iran from the fact that it may be the first target.

With nuclear energy capability, Iran is more of a threat because it would be a nightmare to have after Pakistan, another potential Muslim nuclear armed nation.

This is breaking news: -

Turkey deploys missiles on Syria border

Sun, 22 Jul 2012 14:27:49 GMT

Turkey has deployed ground-to-air missiles on its border with Syria, a report says. The Turkish Anadolu Agency reported the development on Sunday.

The report comes at a time when relations between Ankara and Damascus have
deteriorated.

On June 22, Syria said its air defense forces shot down a Turkish F-4 Phantom in the
Syrian airspace “according to the laws that govern such situations.” The aircraft crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.

Sis, they wont ever bomb syria when there are UN monitors right in the conflict zone.

the role of the UN is here: they keep there as long as possible so, more and more syrian blood will be spilled until its the west invades for ''peacefull'' purposes.

Agreed, just read about the extension of the UN observer mission: - http://pakobserver.net/detailnews.asp?id=165990

The 30 day ultimatum gives the Zionists time to intensify the covert warfare, collect more important information about sensitive sites as UN observers were caught collecting such information and as well as eliminate Syria's regional allies

Allahu Alim.

The Bulgaria false flag provides the opportunity for the Zionists to hit two birds with one stone, i.e Iran and Hezbollah

Rami Khouri, a journalist and Middle East analyst in Beirut talked to Al Jazeera. He is christian.

Analyst says the rebels' recent gains mark "the beginning of the end" for the Syrian regime.

Quote:
"More and more pieces of territory around the country have fallen out of the control of the government and are now in rebel hands, border posts are being held by rebels.

"Clearly this is a regime that is being cornered and encircled. While the regime has a lot of power which it uses to pound the rebels and attack them, politically, the regime is being confined to smaller and smaller areas.

"In the last two months, two things happened simultaneously. The Free Syrian Army and the local fighting forces completely gave up on international support, the international community, the UN and any kind of major aid or political movement. The second thing is they started coordinating much more closely and getting better equipments, more money and more recruits, and therefor devising a strategy which is now being implemented, which is to attack simultaneously around different parts of the country and starting with hit-and-run operations ... This will go on for some time and it's clearly succeeding. The government simply cannot marshal enough resources or enthusiasm among its troops, or confidence, to keep fighting across the entire country."

Of course it's not sectarian since army of Assad is saying that "there's no god but Assad" astaghfirullah.

Just like his brother said that "even Allah can't put them out of power" yet he died very soon.

So it's actually a conflict between pagans ruling the state and muslims. Nothing sectarian about that.

The battle of Damascus has begun

by Thierry Meyssan

Western and Gulf powers have launched the largest secret war operation since the Contra war in Nicaragua. The Battle of Damascus is not intended to topple President Bashar al-Assad, but to fracture the Syrian Army to better ensure the domination of Israel and the U.S. over the Middle East. While the city is bracing for a new assault by foreign mercenaries, Thierry Meyssan takes stock of the situation.

Image
Coming from abroad, the "Contras" started their invasion of Syria by taking border posts.

over the past five days Washington and Paris have launched an attack operation dubbed “Damascus Volcano and Syrian Earthquake." It is not a new campaign of aerial bombardment, but a secret military operation, similar to the one used in Central America during the Reagan era.

Within a few days, 40 to 60 000 Contras, mostly Libyans, entered the country, most often via the Jordanian border. The majority of them are attached to the "Syrian" Free Army, a secret operations front for NATO under Turkish command. Some are affiliated with groups of fanatics, including Al-Qaeda, under Qatar’s command or factions of the Saudi Royal Family, the Sudairi. Along the way, they took some border posts, and then moved to the capital where they have sown confusion by attacking random targets: police groups or isolated military.

Image
Syrian Generals Hassan Turkmani, Daud Rajha and Assef Chawkat died on the field of honor on 18 July 2012.

Wednesday morning, an explosion destroyed National Security headquarters where some members of the National Security Council were meeting. It cost the lives of General Daoud Rajha (Defence Minister), of General Assef Shawkat (Deputy Minister) and of General Hassan Turkmani (Assistant Vice President of the Republic). The mode of attack remains uncertain: it could have been either a suicide bomber or a stealth drone.

Washington hoped that the partial decapitation of the military would lead some senior officers to defect with their units, or even to turn against the civilian government. This has not happened. President Bashar al-Assad immediately signed decrees appointing successors to the fallen heroes and the seamless continuity of the state was ensured.

In Paris, Berlin and Washington, sponsors of the operation continued their unworthy game of condemning terrorist action while reaffirming their political and logistical support for the terrorists. Shamelessly, they concluded that the responsibility for these killings lay not with the culprits, but with the victims in that they had refused to resign under pressure and surrender their homeland to western rapacity.

Caracas and Tehran have sent their condolences to Syria, stressing that the attack was sponsored and funded by Western and Gulf powers Moscow has also expressed condolences and affirmed that requesting Security Council’s sanctions against Syria amounted to political support for the attacking terrorists.

Image
Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi delivers a message on national television after the attack that partially decapitated the Syrian Army.

National television channels have begun to broadcast military clips and patriotic songs several times per hour. Interrupting programs, the Information Minister al-Omran Zou’bi called for the mobilization of everyone: the time for political disputes between government and opposition is over. The enemy is at the gates. Referring to my Komsomolskaya Pravda article [1], he warned his countrymen of the imminent launch of the propaganda operation prepared by Gulf and Western channels in order to demoralize the people. Then, he put the lie to Gulf network propaganda according to which a mutiny had broken out in the fourth division and explosions had devastated its main barracks.

National channels have aired public service announcements several times hourly showing how to capture authentic programs on Atlantic Bird in case Arabsat and Nilesat satellites were interrupted.

In Lebanon, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah recalled the brotherhood of arms uniting Hezbollah and Syria against Zionist expansionism, and assured the Syrian Army of its support.

The bomb attack was the signal for the second part of the operation. Commandos infiltrated the capital, then attacked various more or less chosen targets. Thus, a group of about a hundred Contras attacked the house adjacent to my apartment in the cry of Allah Akbar. A senior military official resides there. Ten hours of uninterrupted fighting ensued.

Whereas at the beginning of the night, the Army responded with measure , the order was later given to use force without restraint. It was no longer a question of fighting against terrorists destabilizing Syria, but of saving the country facing an undeclared alien invasion.

Aircraft went into action to destroy columns of mercenaries heading to the capital.

By late morning, calm was gradually returning to the city. The Contras and their collaborators were forced to withdraw everywhere. Traffic was resuming on major roads, and checkpoints were installed in the city center. Life was returning to normal. However, we still hear scattered gunfire here and there. Most businesses are closed, and there are long queues outside bakeries.

Everyone expects that the final assault will be launched on the night of Thursday to Friday and all day Friday. There is no doubt that the Syrian army will emerge victorious again, the power relationship being to its advantage. The conscript army is supported by the population, including the domestic political opposition.

As expected, Arabsat and Nilesat had disconnected the Ad-Dunya television signal in the middle of the afternoon. The Twitter account of Ad-Dounia has been hacked by the CIA in order to disseminate false messages announcing a retreat of the Syrian Army.

Gulf channels have announced a currency collapse prelude to the downfall of the State. The Governor of the Central Bank, Adib Mayaleh, intervened on national television to denounce the new disinformation and confirm the exchange rate of 68.30 Syrian pounds per U.S. dollar.

Image
Press conference by General Robert Mood on the Battle of Damascus which he observes from his hotel room.

Reinforcements have been deployed around the Umayyads Square to protect public television studios considered a priority target for all enemies of freedom. Replacement studios have been installed in the Rose of Damascus Hotel where United Nations observers are basking. The presence of these officials, who allowed the perpetration of this attack on the capital without interrupting their idleness, is the de facto protection for Syrian journalists risking their lives attempting to inform their fellow citizens.

At the Security Council, Russia and China have for the third time vetoed a draft Western and Gulf resolution to enable international military intervention. Russian and Chinese representatives have tirelessly denounced propaganda aimed at portraying the foreign attack against Syria as a revolt repressed with bloodshed.

The Battle of Damascus is expected to resume tonight.

Thierry Meyssan

The ‘Day After’ Plan For Post-Assad Syria

By Paul Woodward
July 21, 2012

For those convinced that the United States and Israel are the driving force behind a regime-change project which is intent on toppling Bashar al Assad, no piece of evidence will seem more conclusive in supporting this theory than the existence of a project called “The day after: Supporting a democratic transition in Syria.” Look out for reports on this at Press TV and Russia Today — I have no doubt they are being drafted right now.

In a post for The Cable blog, Foreign Policy has the scoop: “Inside the secret effort to plan for a post-Assad Syria.” That’s the teaser on the home page, but the post itself replaces “secret” with “quiet”. If it really was secret we wouldn’t be reading about it, would we.

For the last six months, 40 senior representatives of various Syrian opposition groups have been meeting quietly in Germany under the tutelage of the U.S. Institute for Peace (USIP) to plan for how to set up a post-Assad Syrian government.

The project, which has not directly involved U.S. government officials but was partially funded by the State Department, is gaining increased relevance this month as the violence in Syria spirals out of control and hopes for a peaceful transition of power fade away. The leader of the project, USIP’s Steven Heydemann, an academic expert on Syria, has briefed administration officials on the plan, as well as foreign officials, including on the sidelines of the Friends of Syria meeting in Istanbul last month.

The project is called “The day after: Supporting a democratic transition in Syria.” Heydemann spoke about the project in depth for the first time in an interview with The Cable. He described USIP’s efforts as “working in a support role with a large group of opposition groups to define a transition process for a post-Assad Syria.”

The opposition leaders involved in the USIP project have been meeting since January and providing updates on their work to the Arab League, the Friends of Syria group, the team of U.N. Special Envoy Kofi Annan, and the opposition Syrian National Council.

The focus of the group’s effort is to develop concrete plans for the immediate aftermath of a regime collapse, to mitigate the risks of bureaucratic, security, and economic chaos. The project has also identified a few things can be done in advance to prepare for a post-Assad Syria.

“We organized this project along systematic lines, including security-sector reform,” Heydemann said. “We have provided technical support for Syrian opposition participants in our project, and the Syrians have identified priorities for things that need to be implemented now.”

He emphasized that USIP’s involvement is primarily in a facilitation and coordination role. “The Syrians are very much in the lead on this,” he said.

In line with the claim that this is not a U.S.-directed project, Heydemann underlines the fact Obama administration officials have neither participated in nor observed any of the Berlin meetings. But to say “the Syrians” are in the lead begs the obvious question: which Syrians? How many, if any, have been directly engaged in the uprising?

Beyond the implications for the Syrian population and for the region, President Obama has a political interest during the presidential campaign in not being portrayed as a disengaged observer who stood by and simply watched Syria fall apart.

While foreign policy is still unlikely to feature strongly in the campaign, Mitt Romney is bound to make full use of the narrative that the Middle East has been reduced to anarchy under Obama’s watch.

One of the ironies of the anti-interventionist perspective is that it focuses on the dangers of the U.S. being too actively engaged in the Middle East at a moment when the administration is more afraid of those critics who say it is disengaged. For that reason, the administration actually wants to play up its level of engagement rather than mask it.

Thus we get the theatrics at the United Nations where supposedly the noble efforts of the U.S. and its allies are repeatedly being thwarted by Russia and China. Don’t expect anyone to openly acknowledge this, but Washington may secretly welcome these diplomatic shackles. If let loose, it would probably have a much harder time explaining why it is so reluctant to become more deeply involved in the crisis.

The idea that Syria is a pawn in a new Great Game, is an idea that shapes the perceptions of many observers, but what seems closer to the truth is that ultimately Syria will demonstrate how diminished the influence of the great powers has become.

Steven Heydemann’s Day After project no doubt represents the Obama administration’s desire to be able to mitigate the chaos that will likely ensue with the collapse of the Assad regime, but desires and capabilities are very different things.

Heydemann writes:

Competition to define a post-Assad transition will only accelerate as the fall of the regime grows nearer. Whether these efforts will pay off for the United States or for Russia, however, is uncertain. The scale of Russian support for the regime poses severe obstacles to Moscow’s future influence in a post-Assad Damascus, while the limits of U.S. support for the opposition will likely constrain Washington’s future influence, as well. Moreover, there are regional players in the game and they enjoy significant advantages. For the United States to maximize its leverage it would need to overcome its reluctance to support the armed opposition, yet this remains a large step further than Washington is willing to go. Not least, there are revolutionary forces on the ground, that have no intention of permitting Syria’s future to be dictated by outsiders, who, together with the external opposition, have little confidence in Kofi Annan and are appropriately cynical about efforts to force them into negotiations with elements of the Assad regime. In this critical period, the Syrian opposition remains a diffuse and elusive target in Washington’s efforts to manage the end game in Syria.

Devising a plan is very different from determining an outcome.

Damascus, (Sana) – The Syrian TV showed footage of bodies of terrorists from Egypt and Jordan who were killed by the Syrian armed forces when it was clearing al-Qaboun neighborhood in Damascus from armed terrorist groups.

The terrorists are Abdullah al-Desuqi Musa'ad Bassal and Yasser Abdelrazzaq Kamel Ibrahim from Egypt, Fares Faleh al-Ghazi, Usama Abdelqader Ahmad al-Zahabi, and Ahmmad Abullah al-Zahabi from Jordan.

Earlier, the Syrian TV showed footage of other terrorists who came from Tunisia and Libya, with Turkey and other neighboring countries providing facilitations to allow these murderers to enter Syria and kill its people.

The Times newspaper had reported that the so-called "rebels" in Syria are no more than mercenaries who are funded and given weapons from external sides.

US seeks Assad's removal from power: Obama

US President Barack Obama has once again reiterated that Washington seeks President Bashar al-Assad's removal from power.

“Today, we’re also working for a transition so the Syrian people can have a better future, free of the Assad regime,” Obama in a speech to US veterans in the western state of Nevada on Monday.

Obama also noted that the United States has begun a new era of leadership in the world, pointing out that the US is leading the world from Europe to Asia-Pacific region and has several plans for the Middle East and North Africa.

“We’re leading on behalf of freedom -- standing with people in the Middle East and North Africa as they demand their rights,” the US president added.

Obama also warned Damascus not to use its chemical weapons in any circumstances.

In a new offensive against Damascus, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor and several Western media claimed that the Syrian government possesses and intends to use chemical weapons.

Syria has dismissed allegations that it intends to use chemical weapons to end months of unrest, stressing that it will never use weapons of mass destruction against its own people.

Without confirming the existence of chemical stockpiles, Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi said on Monday that if Damascus possessed chemical weapons they would be used in response to any "external aggression" and not during the internal conflict.

"Syria will not use any chemical or other unconventional weapons against its civilians, and will only use them in case of external aggression," Makdissi told a media conference in the Syrian capital.

The allegations by the US official are believed to be the first attempts at orchestrating an Iraq-like scenario against Syria.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said removing Assad from power would cause a civil war in the violence-hit country.

Putin also said that Assad’s ouster would be unconstitutional and "a civil war will stretch on for who knows how long."

Last week, Russia and China vetoed a Western-backed UN Security Council draft resolution against Syria, which called for new sanctions against the Syrian government under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.

It is the third time that the two world powers block an anti-Damascus resolution since the beginning of unrest in Syria.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of President Bashar al-Assad's government.

The Syrian government says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

Damascus also says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and the security forces have been given clear instructions not to harm civilians.

Fast forward to 4:25 and look at the bald guy with glasses at the right end of the video, he looks Western European, maybe Ashkenazi. While all the other rebels are shouting 'Allahu Ackbar' this bald guy just stands next to them and smiles. Note that this guy also wears a different kind of camo vest compared to all the other rat rebels.
