@Divine

Aww! You just helped make my day, Alhamdulillah! :) No need to worry. I didn't take it the wrong way before I read the edited post. :D Good to know that you're not a dude. I mean, it's nice to get to know another sister here. ^_^ JazakAllah khair and hope you guys will have a blessed day, Ameen!

Glad I made your day lol. (I only edited it coz I read it myself and thought 'How intimidating must that sound?!") -.-
Lol @ Good to know you're not a dude x)

My day most certainly was blessed Alhamdoulillah, Life ain't slowed down just yet though.

I wanted to discuss something actually and cbb making a new thread.

How far would you go in order to preserve your modesty? For example, living in a non-Muslim country, how extreme would you go for the sake of keeping your dignity intact?

For me, well its a whole different story. But I shall discuss that another time.

In the meantime, Take care and have a blessed weekend i'A. (:

Took me a minute to figure out cbb. Felt like a bimbo. *lol*

As for the question, I don't think I did very well when I was on my one-year study abroad in Tokyo which was the only time I lived in a non-Muslim country (pretty sheltered, I know. Hehehe). Sure I didn't consume alcohol (alhamdulillah for great friends especially the one I was closest with. He's a non-Muslim but he was my alcohol and pork detector. :D) and didn't lose the majority of my innocence, if you know what I mean, but where modesty is concerned, the "freedom" I felt made my choices in clothing much more bold... *Astaghfirullah al'aziim*

If I were to be relocated to a non-Muslim country now where I'd still be alone, I would stick to the hijab, insha Allah. I've never really been one who likes to look at people especially men when I go out so I guess will stick to that as well, insha Allah. Then again, I've not yet been in that situation since I "changed" and can't really say, "Oh yeah, I would definitely excel at that." Only He knows how that'd turn out.

I've always wanted to wear a niqab since I think that it makes one feel much safer and since no one knows how you look like, you can get away with things much easily (kidding about the second point there. lol). But even here, it just invites stares. I know we're not suppose to care what others think but I am not one who is comfortable with the idea of standing out and be the center of attention. With that said, in order to preserve my modesty in a non-Muslim country, I think I'd have to experience it myself before I can really state my opinion on it.

Why the question, if you don't mind my asking? ^_^ Ooh, may you have a wonderful and blessed weekend as well, sis! :salaam:

Wow. (:

just a general question really, since today I was told to take off my work blazer whereas I opposed. So I kept insisting I'm not going to take it off, just coz I feel "uncomfortable" with it off.

So after this long debate, besides the fact I was thankful we have rights LOL, and obviously in the end It all worked out.. I was wondering whether or not I should have been so extreme and aggressive in that sense.

I suppose you made your point pretty clear though, jzk.

Wow...good for you! Alhamdulillah that you stood your ground! I find it admirable when I read or hear stories of people who stood their ground on what's right especially when it is concerning pleasing Him before others. Very well done! ^_^

The fact that I stood and watched 2 of my colleagues just do it really angered me. You know, clearly you wouldn't put up with something you ain't happy with right?

That's how all sisters should be, know what I'm sayin? I don't deserve a well done lol, it was nothing.

Aww, you certainly do! I would be miffed as well. You are absolutely, right. We sometimes overthink these things and then we end up doing things we later regret. May you continue to have the courage to stand up against these oppressors, Ameen! ;D

I like the winter. I like the dark skies and cold weather.

Although here winter usually is very wet and miserable with lots of freezing rain and cold winds. Snow is fun but very occasional. Last winter it didn't snow at all and even when it does snow, everything comes to a halt cuz the city is not prepared for a lot of snow. All the roads get blocked and such. Makes driving quite fun through (I may be alone on this opinion)...! Also I love how snow really transforms the place and makes everything really bright. Especially in the night time it gets really bright because all the snow reflects the city lights...

Autumn is my favourite season. I love how all the trees get filled with all these rusty shades and there are dead leaves everywhere. The days and night and well proportioned also so unlike mid winter, its not dark when leaving the house and dark again when returning from college/work and you rarely get to see daylight!

But the most fascinating bit of winter for me always is seeing all these little birds. How somehow through the cold harsh winter, they still manage to find enough food and warmth to keep them alive! Its truly a miracle and nothing but a direct sign that Allah (swt) provides no matter what!

Wa anta fa jazakAllah khair! :) You're very sweet~ ^_^ Would it be bad if we keep throwing praises and appreciation to one another back and forth many times throughout the thread? lol. Perhaps what I just typed are too corny. Scratch that. Hehehe.

Salam, bro! ^_^

Same here. The heat promotes lethargy for me. Whenever the power is out during the day, I could just sleep through it with a blanket over me. Can't stand it if I have to go outside on hot days. Alhamdulillah for umbrellas and parasols! :D

I do long for winter and autumn~

Fun fact: Tikka masala is from glasgow and shrimps are the loudest creatures in the sea. Personal fact: the most violent video game in my possesion is mortal kombat 9 (2011) , its so violent even aussies have banned it even with the threat of imprisonment

^Can't beat Call of Duty when it comes to violence though... Although I find Kill Zone to be that wee bit more violent but Call of Duty feels more real. Although I'll have to put God of War as one of the most violent video games every made.

Anyway, I don't like pointless violence. I'm more into racing games, Need for Speed, Granturismo and such... Currently playing Need for Speed World in my spare time (its a free game!) and love it!
