Unread post THE END
In the name of Allah.

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.

Peace to all of you and Allah's mercy and blessings.

This is the revival of one of the threads that were lost during the big crash of the old WUP website. Judging based on the amount of misleading information going on around the website these days, I came to believe that it was time to bring this back (of course my brothers and sister's reminders were also an encouragement).

Just to repeat my disclaimers before posting this:

1) Although this is just a representation of some solidly authentic hadeeth, accredited by one of the most skilled experts in the knowledge of hadeeth, please remember that this is the personal interpretations of myself (Archimetaus, a layman in Hadeeth science) of how these events fit together. Therefore:

First: Please don't take the order of the matters to be free of mistake; and

Second: Help me correct obvious mistakes.

2) Here is what I am responsible and (more importantly) what I am not responsible in regards to the contents of the following research:

- I am not responsible for the wording of the narrations (for that you will have to speak to the Messenger of Allah -sAawaws- and his companions -may Allah be pleased with them- who said these in the first place)

- I am not responsible for the authencity of the narrations (I am trusting all those great men and women who narrated these through ages and the scientist who tested and tried them)

- I am not responsible for the accuracy of the translation (I am trusting the translator who happens to be a student of the scholar who accredited and approved them)

- What I am responsible for is the chronological re-arranegement of the events and occasional interpretations that have been clearly brought to attention through the book.

3) Although I say that everything in the reference collection of hadeeth should be taken as true, it does not mean that everything that is not present in this collection is not true. This is just one corrected collection of narrations. There are many out there and many of them consist of facts that are not covered in this collection.

With these notes and by reminding everybody to fear Allah and only Allah, we start the book called "The End". May we all benefit from what comes in this research. Insha Allah.

Introduction

The present study is, essentially, a chronological re-arrangement of a valuable collection of credible narrations on the events of the End Time, as validated by Shaykh Abdullah bin Siddeeq al-Ghumari (1914 – 1993), one of the greatest modern experts of Hadeeth (the science of the transmission of the sayings and practices of Prophet Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him) and translated by one of his students, Shaykh Ahmad Darweesh.

Shaykh Ahmad Darweesh introduces his teacher as “a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him”, who was “not only the foremost Muhaddith of Africa, but one of the top seven scholars in the world on the Science of Hadeeth”.

At an early age, the Muhaddith became a Professor of Hadeeth at Al Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, and, to his credit, several of his former students include Grand Muhaddiths and Islamic officials in many parts of the Islamic world. During his lifetime, he wrote over one hundred books on Islam, including an encyclopaedia of hadeeth falsely attributed to Prophet Muhammad. He also originated the Science of the Innovations of the Explanation of the Holy Quran.

Muhaddith Abdullah was born in Tangier, Morocco in 1914. As a child, he learned the Holy Quran by heart and studied the Quranic science of calligraphy. Later, he studied the complete sciences of ‘Maliki’ Jurisprudence and the Explanation of the Holy Quran at Qayrwan Mosque in Fez, Morocco. In December 1931 he began his studies at Al Azhar, where he took and passed the final examination within the short period of one year, after which he was offered a teaching position in the prestigious university of Al Azhar. In 1942 he received his Ph.D. then returned to Tangier where he continued to teach in the Mosque and Centre founded by his father up until the time of his death, may Allah be pleased with them.
Although Muhaddith Abdullah was a Sunni scholar he was extremely well versed with the Shia doctrine and nominated by the late Imam Yahya of Yemen (Yahya Muhammad Hameeduddin) to revise the Zaydia Encyclopaedia of Shia.

Shaykh Ahmad Darweesh mentions in his introduction to the book “Al Mahdi, Jesus and Mushaikh” (the source for the narrations in the present study) that the first part of this book was first printed at the beginning of the Iranian Islamic Revolution and was so well received that it was completely sold out in the first week of its publication, in Cairo, Egypt.

Until now there has never been such a well documented book in English on the subject of Al Mahdi from the Sunni point of view, which incidentally, with the exception of a few minor issues, is very close to that of the Shia.

The original Arabic version of this book is called ‘Al Mahdi Al Muntazar’ (The Awaited Mahdi) and contains the full chain of narrators. In the English translation only the final link of every chain (The person who has directly heard it from the Prophet himself) has been mentioned. The translator explains that this is “because this matter is only of real interest to the scholars of the Science of Hadeeth Terminology to which the average western reader is unfamiliar. However, these omissions do not detract from the information contained within this book, rather, it simplifies its reading”.

The original book also provides a list of statements that the late Shaykh had found to be falsely attributed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). This list is not found in the English version because the translator, as he mentions in his introduction, fears that the readers might “confuse the false with the truth”. For those who wish to study these false statements, he refers them to the original Arabic version of this book.

The present study, intends to extract the storyline of the End Time events from this valuable collection of hadeeth. Therefore, unlike the original book (the Arabic version or the English translation), it is not a comprehensive list of all credible narrations, but rather a text containing all the information conveyed by this collection in a chronological order. For example, in the original book many hadeeths have been narrated from various sources with small differences from one to the other. Here, however, the information in all those similarly valid hadeeths have been put together and presented as one set of facts.

To preserve the consistency of the text, some spelling changes have also been applied that, in no way, make any difference in the meaning. For example the spelling of the word “Koran” has been changed to the more standard form of “Quran” and so on.

______________

1. The beginning of the end

This chapter deals with the general signs of the end of time and the situation of the world before the arrival of Mahdi (PBUH). The picture depicted by these hadeeths is a very dark and tragic image full of wars and diseases, injustice and tyranny, natural and manmade disasters and an ultimate sense of confusion and hopelessness, when “earthquakes” are common and “the Earth shrinks before people”. This shrinking has been interpreted as referring to either the shorter distance between cities (as a result of faster transportation) or the decrease in the land area of the Earth (because of the rise in sea levels). It might also mean what it says; that the Earth will actually shrink in size. And God knows best.

Society

Before Mahdi’s Arrival, “life is full of murder and strife and trials increase”. People will go through three immense trials, the first one being “the trial of happiness” (and prosperity), the second one “the trial of harm” (and destruction) and the third one “the trial of gold” (or money). “A mountain of gold appears in the river Euphrates over which people will be killed in great numbers as many as ninety-nine out of a hundred, with everyone saying: 'Perhaps I will be the one to be saved'.” This is the gold treasure that we were warned by the Holy Prophet that “whosoever sees it should take nothing from it”.

At this time, common people will be “divided” and their trust will be plundered “like spoils of war”. “Roads are blocked (by thieves), and people start attacking one another”. Moral and family values will change to the worst. “The elderly show no mercy to the young and the young show no mercy to the elderly“. “Husbands will obey their wives and disobey their mothers and banish their fathers”. This is a time that “a man will be treated generously to avoid his evil”.

Politics

This is the time when tyrants will rule the world and fill it with “injustice and transgression” and “harm and oppression”. The Prophet of God told us that after him (PBUH) there would be “caliphs, and after the caliphs, princes and after princes, kings, and after kings, tyrants”. It is at the time of these tyrants that “the police increase” and “slave girls take authority” and “lambs (weak authorities) sit on the pulpit”. When it is seen that “the tribe is mastered by a deviator” and “the leader of the nation is the worst of them” you should know that the time is near.

This tyranny will specifically hit the Muslim population with most severity. We know that “a stern trial from their governors” will come upon Muslims; a trial as such that “never before will they have heard” of anything like it. We know that they will “find no refuge from harm”. The prophet of God (PBUH) expressed his grave concern about his nation in a situation like this by these strong sentences:

"Woe to this nation from the dictatorship of kings! Why do they kill and make pious people fear except those who obey them and the pure believer soothes them with his tongue but resists them with his heart? If Allah wishes to revive Islam in might, He will break the back of every stubborn tyrant. He is Able to do anything and can reform the nation after its corruption. “

Muslims will be weak and “divided into seventy three sects. One sect will be in Paradise and the rest in Hell." This division will be in a way that “when one side moves, the other does not, and when that side moves the other does not”. Death will attack Muslims’ bodies “through harm, hunger, murder, continuous trials and great battles”.

Religion

The hearts of Muslims will also be under attack by “the death of the Sunnah”, “the revival of innovations”, “abstention from honouring good” and “forbidding the prohibited that pursued them”. Many Muslims will not practice proper Islam. “The Quran will be used as flutes” (for its musical beauty only) and “mosques will be decorated” (and beautiful in appearance, but away from true worship of God). “The religious study will not be for the Sake of Allah” and “the last of this nation will curse the beginning of it”. “The spoils of war will be manipulated” and “the obligatory charity will become an excessive debt”.

It is at this time that “disbelief in Allah will be expressed openly” and “men (hypocrites) will say that Allah has been killed!” It is at this time when “man will sleep as a believer but wake as an unbeliever and wake as a believer but go to sleep as an unbeliever”.

It is in such situation that people wish their final relief from all of this and pray for the arrival of their saviour. Mahdi’s main mission will be turning this gloomy picture to one of fairness and justice. But who is Mahdi? How will people know him when he arrives and distinguish between him and others who claim to be ‘the guided one’? Chapter two will answer these questions.

______________

2. The guided one

From what was said in the previous chapter, we know that the religious, political and ethical demise of the world will reach such an extent that all humanity will feel hopeless, defenceless and clueless as what to do to save their lives and souls. But this will not last forever. This unprecedented illness of the humanity will be cured in an unprecedented way and there should be no doubt in this: "The days will not end and life will not vanish”…"even if there remains only one day left to be lived, Allah will prolong that day until He sends a man… He will fill the earth with fairness and justice just as it was filled by oppression and injustice” and “harm and transgression”. He “will open the fortress of error and open hearts that have been sealed and repair the Religion as [The Holy Prophet] established it in the beginning of time.” This man is Mahdi.

In fact, Mahdi is how he will be known to people rather than his real name. The Prophet of God told in a few instances that “His name is the same as mine” and we know that the Prophet’s name was Muhammad (upon him the best of Allah’s blessings). There is also a narration that adds that “his father's name is like my father's name”. We will see later (in Chapter 6) that his mother’s name is also known to some of the more knowledgeable Muslims, although most others are unaware of this name.

Lineage

The number of credible narrations received from the Holy prophet and his companions leaves no doubt that Mahdi is a descendant of the Holy Prophet through his daughter, Lady Fatima (praise and peace be upon all of them). Almost all of the hadeeths about Mahdi, regardless of their sources and chains of narrations, start with introducing him as “a man from me (the Holy Prophet)”, “from my children”, “from the family of my House”, “from us”, “from my pure musked descendants” or “from the children of Fatima”.

Lady Fatima is the Holy Prophet’s daughter and mother of all his grandchildren. Her husband, Ali, is another prominent character in the history of Islam. So are their two sons, Hassan and Hussain (May God’s peace and blessing be on all of them). From the credible narrations, it is known that Mahdi will be of the descendants of the younger grandson of the Holy Prophet, Hussein (PBUT). One of the narrations on this matter states that:
“One day as Imam Ali looked at his son, Hussein (peace be upon them), he said: "Surely, this my son is a Master as the Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, has named him. From his loins comes a man whose name is like the name of your Prophet. He is similar to him in manner and will fill the earth with justice."

Physical appearance

There are quite a few detailed hadeeths on how Mahdi looks like. We know that, on his arrival, he will appear to be” forty years old” (or “between the age of thirty and forty") and wearing “two white cloaks with frayed edges”. “His skin is the colour of an Arab” and his body “looks like the men from the children of Israel” “and upon his shoulder is the Sign of the Prophet, praise and peace be upon him”.

“His face is like a colourful, glittering star” and he has a “high” and “radiant” forehead and eyes that are “naturally mascaraed”. “Upon his right cheek there is a black mole” that “glitters like a star”. He also has a “prominent” nose, “radiant” and “evenly spaced” teeth and a “thick” beard.

This is the man that everybody will be waiting for when signs appear. To learn more about these signs, please see Chapter 3.

______________

3. Specific signs of Mahdi’s arrival

Chapter one revealed the general situation of the world when the time nears its end. This chapter will present some more specific signs that will be observed around the time when the arrival of Mahdi (PBUH) is expected. These signs are sometimes so unmistakable that their coincidence will leave no doubt in the hearts of the believers about the events that will unroll in a short time after they are observed.

A Muslim tyrant in Al Zawra
(Al Zawra = Baghdad, Iraq)

"There will be a battle at Al Zawra which is a city in the east among rivers. It is inhabited by the worst creations of Allah and the tyrant of my nation. It will be subjected to four kinds of chastisement; the sword, swallowing-up, missiles, and transformation."

One might construe these four forms of chastisement as dictatorship, invasion, bomb raids and change in people’s minds (or even bodies).

Flood in Al Sham
(Al Sham = historic Syria = today Syria + Jordan + Palestine + Lebanon)

“At the end of Time there will be a trial in which people will be sorted in a similar way to that in which gold is sorted from metal. Therefore, do not rebuke the people of Syria. Rather, rebuke the evil people among them, because amongst them are Al Abdal. Allah will send a flood from Heaven that will disperse their groups in a way that if foxes were to attack them they would be victorious. At that time a man from the Family of my House will come…”

Succession wars

It is not clear where this will happen, but it will not be long before Mahdi’s arrival that "three will kill each other. All of them are sons of a different caliph but none will be the recipient”.

Al Harth and Al Mansoor

Two of the names that appear in the events close to Mahdi’s appearance are Harth and Mansoor:

"A man called Al Harth will come from Ma Wara Al Nahr (beyond the river). At his front is a man called Mansoor who will pave and establish the government for the family of Muhammad just as the Quraysh established it for the Messenger of Allah praise and peace be upon him. It is obligatory for all believers to support him (or obey him)."

This seems to be referring to a Muslim army from another country (probably Central Asia). Al Harth is probably a reference to the name of the leader of that country and Al Mansoor might be the commander of Harth’s army. And God knows best.

Sufyani

The emergence of Sufyani (a global tyrant who will fill the world with oppression and transgression) is probably the biggest sign of the arrival of Mahdi (PBUH). This character plays such a big role in the time to come and the revelations about him and his campaign are so numerous and important, that it was sought best to specify three full chapters to him, his friends and foes and the events around them. Chapter 5 will deal with Sufyani’s arrival and his campaign and victories. Later (in Chapters 7 and 8) it will be revealed that how and in whose hand his defeat will be delivered.

Al Nafs Al Zakiyyah

There are some more specific references to some of the characters that will emerge right before the arrival of Mahdi (PBUH). We learned about some of these characters in the previous chapter. It should be noted that the names given in these references are not to be taken literally. These names sometimes are just a description of the person in the story, either a physical or a personality description. Some of these names might just sound close to the real name of the person. Also, in some hadeeths it has been mentioned that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave the name of a person that the companions had seen and known to the character in the revelation because this character would look like their contemporary man.

‘Al Nafs Al Zakiyyah’ who is mentioned in the following hadeeth means ‘the purified soul’ and his name, most likely, just refers to a righteous man, rather than giving his exact name:

"Surely, Al Mahdi will not come until ‘the purified soul’ has been killed. When this occurs those in the Heaven and those on Earth will be angry. So people will come in a procession to Al Mahdi…”

So we know that right before the arrival of Mahdi, a very honourable and virtuous man will be killed.

According to some other narrations this might be an execution that will happen inside the Great Mosque in Mecca and next to Ka’bah.

Strange eclipses

"For Al Mahdi there are two signs that have never before existed since Allah created the Heaven and Earth. The moon will eclipse on the first night of Ramadan, and the sun will eclipse during its middle. This has never occurred since Allah created the Heavens and Earth."

This has indeed never happened before. The reason is that Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar; a lunar calendar, in which every month starts with the new moon, while the full moon will happen in the middle of the month. On the other hand, we know that solar eclipses always occur near a new moon (when the Moon is between the Sun and Earth) and lunar eclipses occur near a full moon (when the Earth is between the Sun and Moon).

So, in order to witness a lunar eclipse on the first night of Ramadan and a solar one in the middle, some big celestial events are required to happen beforehand. Some have interpreted this as the possibility of the appearance of a second moon or even a second sun in the sky. Some others believe that this might refer to changes in the Islamic calendar by governments. In each case, this will be a big sign that will happen in a short time (probably during the last Ramadan) before the arrival of Mahdi (PBUH).

The last five months

As we get closer to the time of the arrival, signs become more obvious and unmistakable. The following is a recount of what is to happen between Ramadan (the 9th month of the Islamic year) and Muharram (the first month of the new year) on the year of Mahdi’s advent:

- "During Ramadan there will be a sound”;

- “in Shawwal there will be a hum”;

- “in Dhi Qi’dah tribes will fight”;

- “in Dhi Hijjah pilgrims will be robbed” and “there will be a fierce battle in Mina”. This battle might be over the incident of the “death of a caliph”. Anyway, “to the people on pilgrimage standing on Arafat without an imam, a burning desire will come as they remain in Mina. The tribes will revolt against each other and they will kill each other until their blood flows on Al Jamrah (Al Aqabah).” “Then the best of them (Mahdi) will go when the alarm is raised.” (We will get back to this story later in Chapter 6 to see where He will go next).

- “and in Muharram a herald will call from Heaven. 'Attention! Surely, the choice from His creation is so and so (referring to Al Mahdi). So hear him and obey!" We will talk in more detail about this heavenly herald in Chapter 7 inshaAllah.

5. The Sufyani is here

There will be a war between Muslims and some “dark people”. Muslims will be victorious in this war and their enemies “will be defeated and thrown into the lowest part of the earth”. Physically speaking, “the lowest part of the earth” is the Dead Sea desert in Jordan, but there is no other evidence to support that this term, in fact, does refer to the country we know today as Jordan. “Upon that day it will happen and men will run to Syria to the City of Damascus, which is one of the best cities in Syria”. Damascus will “protect them from their enemy”, but not for long.

Attack on Syria

Sufyani “will come with three hundred and sixty riders until he reaches Damascus”. Syria will be opened and “soon then after its opening the trials will start and a dark and dusty trial will come”. “After a month, he will be followed by thirty-thousand from [the tribe of] Kalb” and that is when his brutal campaign begins “from the centre of Damascus”.

The hadeeths about Sufyani picture him as one of the most dreadful characters of the whole history; a bloodthirsty tyrant who “will kill until he rips women open and kills children”. The first people who oppose him and “rise up in retaliation” are “the tribe of Qays”. “Between them there will be a battle in Qurqisa” and the result: Sufyani “will slaughter all of them”…“until the birds of the air are filled and the savage animals of the earth are filled from their perishing“.

Attack on Iraq

When he is finished with the Syria region, “he will send an army to Iraq”. First he will “kill a hundred thousand in Al Zawra”. Then he will focus all his malice on the Shia Muslims in Iraq. “The horses of Sufyani will go to Kufa” and “pillage”. “They will slay the followers of the Family of Muhammad in Kufa” and capture some of them.

When the news about the massacre of the Shia in Kufa reaches Khurasan (The region including Iran and North Afghanistan), people of Khurasan prepare one of the most admired armies of the Islamic history. An army that is introduced in this incident, but will remain one of the most victorious in the events to come: “A banner will come from the east led by a man from Tameem called Shuayb, the son of Salih”.

We know that Shuayb the son of Salih will be “a youth, whose beard is yellowish and thin”. “He will be dark” and “of medium stature” and He “will come from Al-Ray” (Tehran, Iran). He is probably the man that has been referred to as "a man from the children of Hassan”, who “will come from the East” and “meets no one that he does not defeat and scatter”. “If he faces the mountains, he will destroy them making a passage through them".

Attack on Iran

Shuayb will move his army to Kufa and “will restore what is in their hands (hands of the Sufyani’s men) from the captured people of Kufa and he will kill them”. This will anger Sufyani and make him try to retaliate. He will blockade the transfer of people, money and goods and “send his army against the dwellers of Khurasan”. “The horses of Sufyani will come demanding the people of Khurasan“. There is not much information on the details of Sufyani’s attack on Iran, but whatever these details are, this attack is of high severity, because it is at this time that “the people of Khurasan” send delegates to Mecca to “long for and search for Al Mahdi."

But longing and searching for Mahdi is not all that the people of Khurasan do. Meanwhile, an extremely important alliance is being formed. Another great man, called “Hashimi”, will emerge with a distinctive sign: “Black Banners at his front”. He will join forces with Shuayb, the son of Salih and “engage Sufyani at the Gate of Istakhr (in the South of Iran, near the modern city of Shiraz). Between them there will be a tremendously fierce battle” and, as a result, “the Black Banners will win”. However this is not a definite victory, because “the horses of Sufyani will escape“.

This is when people will hear of the arrival of Mahdi and groups of people will move from different places in the world towards Mecca to join and help him. “And the news will reach Sufyani”…

6. The Mahdi arrives

It was mentioned previously that when Sufyani Attacks Khurasan, people of Khurasan send some of them to search for Mahdi (PBUH). Obviously it is not only Khurasan that will be searching for him.

In Search of Mahdi

"When commerce and roads are blocked and trials increase, seven knowledgeable people will come from different directions without previous appointment. Each will receive the allegiance of over three hundred men until they meet in Mecca. The seven will meet and ask one another: 'What brought you here?'

They will reply: 'In Search of the man upon whose hand the trials will be calmed, and for whom Constantinople will be opened. We know him by his name, his father's name, his mother's name, and his army'.” (This shows that Mahdi’s mother is also known by name to some of the knowledgeable Muslims, a name that is not normally taken as common knowledge among Muslims).

“So the seven will agree upon this and search for him”.

Meanwhile, the fierce battle and bloodshed that was mentioned in Chapter 4 (under the section ‘The last five months’) is in progress in Mina. Mahdi leaves Mina and goes to Mecca.

Those in search of Mahdi will “find him in Mecca. So they will ask him: 'Are you so and so, son of so and so?'
He will reply: 'No, I am a man from the supporters.'

And escape from them, so they will describe him to people in their midst that are both righteous and knowledgeable and it will be said to them: 'The one whom you seek was in your company, and he will go to Al Medina.'

So they will search for him in Al Medina but at that time he will be in Mecca.

So they will search for him in Mecca and say to him: 'You are so and so, son of so and so, and your mother is so and so, daughter of so and so, and in you are the signs of such and such, and such and such. You escaped from us once so stretch out your hands and we will pledge our allegiance to you.' So he will say: 'I am not your companion.'

Then he will escape from them so they will search for him in Al Medina when he has returned to Mecca. Then they will find him in Mecca beside Al Rukn”. “They will reach him when his face is touching the stone of Al Ka'ba” and “he is tearful”.

They “say to him: 'Our sins will be upon you and our blood upon your neck if you do not stretch out your hand so that we may pledge our allegiance! The army of Sufyani is coming demanding us in which there is a man from Jurm'.”

“But he will reply: 'Woe to you! How many promises did you break and how much blood did you shed!' “

313

“So he will sit between Al Rukn and Al Maqam and stretch out his hand and allegiance will be pledged to him”…“while he dislikes it” “and the inhabitants of the Heaven and Earth will be pleased with him.” We know that there will be three hundred and thirteen people who will first offer their allegiance to Mahdi, because it has been clearly stated that “the allegiance will be pledged by the same number of fighters at Badr” “and their number is the same as Talut's companions, those who crossed the river with him”. These 313 people are of the best humans that the world has ever seen. “Neither those who are at the beginning overtake them, nor those who are at the end reach them”.

After people finish giving Mahdi their allegiance, “he will pray two units of prayer”…“and when he finishes his prayer”, he will go to the people and deliver his first speech that will start with these sentences: “O people! Continuous trials came to the nation of Muhammad, praise and peace be upon him, especially to the Family of his House. You have been conquered and wronged”.

______________

7. Sufyani’s pre-emptive attack

We learned that when “the Black Banners are aimed at Sufyani and the people of Shuayb, the son of Salih, long for and search for Al Mahdi“, “he will emerge from Mecca”. “With him will be the Banner of the Messenger, praise and peace be upon him.” A banner that is “made from a marked woollen black square that will not have been unfolded since the Messenger, praise and peace be upon him, and it will not be unfolded until Al Mahdi comes”.

“And the news will reach Sufyani”…

Attack on Medina

Sufyani has just suffered a defeat in his attack on Khurasan when the news will reach him that Mahdi has appeared. He finds it more important to deal with Mahdi first. So, from Iraq, he sends an army to defeat Mahdi before he gains more supporters and strength. His army will enter Medina “and pillage it for three days”, “until the stones of oil (Ahjar al Zayt) are flooded (with blood)”. Some people will succeed to escape Medina “and give their allegiance to Al Mahdi”.

Attack on Mecca

Then Sufyani’s army will “proceed towards Mecca” “under seven banners” until they find themselves in “Al Bayda desert”, “between Mecca and Medina” “in the direction of Dhi Hulayfah”. In this desert, the army of Sufyani will receive one of the most miraculous chastisements of the history; a definitive and clear sign of such magnitude that will leave no doubt that ‘The Time’ has come. The whole army will be “swallowed up by the ground” and there will be no way to rescue them or even their corpses: “Those that are on top cannot reach those beneath and those beneath cannot reach those on top up until the Day of Judgement”. When the second wave of Sufyani’s army arrive to the scene, “the same thing will happen to them."

In this incident, it is not only the army that are killed. In fact, everybody who is present in that place will face the same fate. "Yes, among them are the weak sighted walking, looking around them and those that are forced as well as those having no home. They will be destroyed in one way”. From the whole crowd present in that desert at that time, none will remain except one or two “who will return to As-Sufyani to inform him of the swallowing-up of his army, but this will not scare him”.

A voice from Heaven

For some reason, “several men from the Quraysh” probably from Iraq or from Medina “will escape to Constantinople”. “Sufyani will send to the leader of the Romans” and ask him to return the fugitives. The leader of the Romans “will return them to him and he will slit their throats together with their followers”.

“At that time a voice will come from Heaven saying: ‘O people! Surely Allah prevents dictatorship, tyrants and their followers for you and gives leadership to the best of the nation of Muhammad”. “The Truth is in the Family of Muhammad” and “Your Prince” is “Al Mahdi, the Caliph of Allah so follow him" and “join him in Mecca. He is Al Mahdi!"

This, as we learned in Chapter 4, will happen in the month of Muharram. “That is the time, in which Al Mahdi will appear upon the lips of people”. “Allah will sow love of him in the chests of the people” and “they will drink his love and their talk is only about him.” Muslims have heard that “if you reach him, pledge your allegiance to him, because, surely, he is Al Mahdi in the Earth and Al Mahdi in the Heaven.” We will see in Chapter 8 who will respond to this call by the Prophet (PBUH) and join Imam Mahdi (PBUH) in Mecca.

______________

8. Mahdi vs. Sufyani

Allah will “gather the scattered nation for him like the scattered clouds” and “restore unity and favours upon the hearts of Muslims and those who were far come close”. “Groups of Persian and Arab tribes will unite because of him”. “Allah will arbitrate between their hearts so that they do not feel lonely, nor will they be happy if someone joins them”. Therefore, “he will lead nations that are lions during the day and worshippers at night” and “their hearts are like iron”. It is with the company of such great men that the messenger of Allah said “He [Mahdi] will fight with the guidance of my Sunnah as I fought with the guidance of the Revelation."

Mahdi’s army

So whoever finds the chance, will get himself to Mahdi’s army from different parts of the world. In a short time, he will gather an army of “approximately twelve [to] fifteen thousand under three banners and their password is 'Die, die!'”. Further to that, “Allah will support him with three thousand angels”, “with Gabriel at his front and Michael at his middle” “and the dwellers of Heaven and Earth will be joyful because of him”.

Among his army will be “Al-Rufaqa” who “will come from the dwellers of Kufa”, three hundred (men) from “Al Abdal and those looking like them” who “will come to him from Syria”, “Al-Nujaba” who “will come to him from the dwellers of Egypt”, “groups of dwellers from the east, and those looking like them”, men from “Talaqan” (in Afghanistan or Iran), “who know Allah through truthful knowledge” and some from “Yemen”, “until they all gather together in Mecca”.

But the most powerful and important part of Mahdi’s army will be formed by the “Black Banners”; “four thousand men” who “will come from Khurasan”. At the time of Mahdi’s arrival, they are in Kufa (after defeating Sufyani’s army as described in Chapter 4). “So when Al Mahdi appears in Mecca their allegiance will be sent to him." They will invite Mahdi and his followers to Khurasan “and give him the power of their affairs”.

Therefore, from this time onwards, the army with black banners will be led by Mahdi himself and "the bearer of the Banner of Al Mahdi is Shuayb, the son of Salih." This is the army that the Holy Prophet ordered all Muslims who will be present at that time to join: “If you see the Black Banners coming from Khurasan go to them immediately, even if you must crawl over ice, because indeed amongst them is the Caliph, Al Mahdi”.

Mahdi’s victories

“Then he will direct himself towards Syria” to fight with Sufyani who will have retreated to “the House of Jerusalem” and will be supported by the tribe of Kalb. “When he reaches Syria”, "Al Mahdi, As-Sufyani and Kalb will fight in the House of Jerusalem” “and this will become known as the Battle of Kalb”. Mahdi “will kill Kalb” and “As-Sufyani will be captured”. Mahdi’s army will receive a great deal of spoils from this war, so that “whosoever does not witness the spoils of war from Kalb is lost!”

Sufyani will be slain “at the gate of Ar Rahbah” and “under the tree, the branches of which grow in the direction of Lake Tiberias” and, by his death, one of the most horrendous chapters of history will be closed.
…”And the matter will be settled for Al Mahdi in seventy-two months” and after that, the promised rule of fairness and justice and abundance and prosperity will begin.

9. Mahdi’s reign

It is possible that Mahdi (PBUH) will choose Antioch for his residence when the trial of Sufyani is over. This is what some understand from a narration from the Messenger of God (PBUH), when he describes Antioch: “The Torah, Staff of Moses, Tablets, and the Table of Solomon, the son of David are in its caves. There is not a single cloud that comes from any direction to it that does not pour its blessing in that valley. And the days and night will not pass until a man from my musked children live in it. His name is like my name and his father's name is like my father's name; his manners are like my manners. He will fill the world with fairness and justice just as it had been filled by harm and transgressions" and “oppression and injustice”.

A ruler like none before

Mahdi will “speak with” “and practice the Sunnah of Prophet, praise and peace be upon him, with the people”. “He will be strict with his staff, generous with wealth and merciful to the servile" and “will return the wrongly possessed goods in a way that he will extract even the slightest thing that is under a molar to return it". Through him, “Allah will revive the Sunnah that died and he will please with his justice, and the hearts of the believers will be blessed” and “Islam will spread throughout the earth”.

Mahdi, as a ruler, will lead a “great” nation that “will enjoy favours, which it has never enjoyed before”. Through him, “Allah, the Mighty, the Glorified will give the inhabitants of the earth from His Goodness” and he will be “loved throughout creation and the dwellers of Heaven and Earth will be pleased with his Caliphate”. So much that even “the dead will wish for life because of that!”

A prosperous nation

Mahdi’s reign will be a time of abundance and prosperity. “Water will be plentiful in his country and the river will be spread” and “cattle will increase”. For him “Allah will send rain so that the earth produces its plants”. “The heavens will send an abundance of rain” and “showers” of “blessing”. Also “the earth will not store any seed, and rather it will yield all its fruits”.

At His time, “treasures are found” and “the earth will bring forth that which is hidden from its depths. They look like cylinders of gold or silver" and “there will be a surplus of wealth”. Mahdi will distribute this wealth “equally” and “without count” so when a man comes to him saying “O Mahdi, give me, give me!”, “he will fill his clothes with as much as he can carry” and “he will be told 'Take!'”. Furthermore, “Allah will fill the hearts of the nation of Muhammad with richness and his justice will satisfy them “.

New wars

Unfortunately, this era of peace, tranquillity and security, during which “livestock and foxes will live together peacefully” and “a woman can travel amongst five ladies with no man among them, fearing nothing except Allah” will not last long. We know from different sources that the blessed Prophet believed that Mahdi “will govern for seven years”. One of these sources narrates this length as “five plus two”. This might mean that on the fifth year of his rule something significant will happen. This might be the big battle against the Romans, which will result in opening Constantinople and coincides with the start of the biggest trial of the end times or even the whole history.

We know that Mahdi “will open Constantinople and the Mountain of Al-Daylam” and we also know that these “openings” do not happen through peaceful means and that fierce battles are involved. The Romans will “surround” Mahdi and the two sides “will fight each other at a place called Al-Imaq and one third, or thereabouts, of the Muslims will be killed. They will fight again on another day and again one third or thereabouts of the Muslims will be killed. On the third day they will fight again and the Romans will be defeated. And they will remain there until they open Constantinople”.

“…It is whilst they are distributing the spoils of war that a messenger will come informing them that the False Messiah is in their home town with their children"…

10. The Anti-Christ Dajjal

“From the creation of Adam to the Day of Judgment there is no affair that is greater than the mischief of the anti-Christ”. This is how the blessed Prophet (May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his family) described the events narrated in this chapter. After the short period of happiness and peace, achieved under Mahdi’s rule, the biggest enemy of truth will emerge; this time not only by brute force and ruthlessness, but also with a far more destructive weapon: deception. That quality is what gives him his title in different cultures, languages and religions. In Islamic tradition, he is called Dajjal, the deceiver and in Judeo-Christian texts he is mentioned by names including the Anti-Christ and the False Messiah. This shows that one of the things this character does is to claim to be the Messiah. There is also a clue given by the Holy Prophet that makes one think that Dajjal might even claim to be God: “Every Prophet warned his nation against the one-eyed liar. Listen! He is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed”.

Description

The False Messiah “will be a young man” and he will have “coarse hair”. But the most frequent reference to his appearance is the visible flaw he will have in his eye: “He is one-eyed” and “blind in his right eye”. His right eye “will appear like a swollen grape”. We also know that “between the eyes of the anti-Christ will be written KFR”. These three letters, when put together, will make the Arabic word kufr (remember that short vowels are not written in Arabic) and kufr means “denial of the truth” and also “infidelity”.

To perfect his deception, he will be equipped with some extraordinary powers. “The speed of his movement throughout the earth” Will be "Like a cloud left behind in the wind“. He will pass through deserted places and call on them to bring forth their treasures and their treasures will follow him like wasps”.

Paradise and Hell

He will shower his followers with what appears to be miracles and penalise his enemies by the most unusual punishments. When he starts to “approach people and invite them”, some people “will respond by believing in him”. For them “He will command the sky and it will send down rain on people. He will command the earth and it will produce green herbage for them” so that their cattle “will return in the evening with firm humps, full udders and fattened sides”. On the other hand, those who “reject his call”; “he will turn away from them”. “They will be stricken by drought and famine and thereafter become destitute”.

But “worshipers of Allah” should “remain firm” because “that which he calls Paradise will be Hell, and that which he calls Hell is Paradise”. “With him will be both water and fire. “That which people perceive to be water will be fire that burns and that which people perceive to be fire will be cool and sweet water”. Therefore, “if any among you encounters him, you should jump into that which you perceive to be fire”. One interesting advice for the Muslims who encounter him is to “recite to him the opening verses of the Cave Chapter (Quran, Chapter 18)”.

______________

11. Dajjal’s campaign

The False Messiah “will emerge from the road between Syria and Iraq” and “will be followed by seventy thousand Jews from Isfahan who will wear robes of satin”. He will conquer the world. He “will enter each and every city” and “be the cause of destruction and bloodshed to the left and right”, while “People will flee to the mountains seeking refuge” from him.

‘Now, he will be unable to do anything to anyone’!

In one of these invasions, “a believer”, “a man in the prime of his youth”, “will set out towards him (the Anti-Christ) and encounter his guards. They will ask: 'Where are you going?' He will reply: 'I am going to the one who has appeared.' They will ask him: 'Don't you believe in our lord!' He will reply: 'Our Lord has no secrecy.' Then some will say to the other: 'Let us kill him!' But they will say: 'Hasn't your lord forbidden you to kill anyone without his order?' So they will take him to the Anti-Christ. When the believer sees him he will call out: 'O people, this is the anti-Christ who was mentioned by the Messenger of Allah!' Upon this the anti-Christ will command them to kill him, and inflate his back and stomach”. After issuing this order, “he will ask the man: 'Don't you still believe in me?" But he will reply: 'You are the anti-Christ.' Then the anti-Christ will order him to be sawn in half, through his skull to the top of his legs” (or does it himself by a strike of “his sword”). The two pieces “will be separated from each other the distance of an arrow”. “After this the anti-Christ will step between the two parts of his body and address them saying: 'Rise up!' Whereupon the man will become whole and stand up” “with a cheerful, smiling face”. “The anti-Christ will question him again: 'Do you believe in me?' But the man will answer: 'I have only learned more about you!' And he will turn to the people and say: 'Now, he will be unable to do anything to anyone!' So the Anti-Christ will seize him in order to kill him, but Allah will make his neck from its base upwards to be as if it were made of brass and the anti-Christ will be rendered incapable of killing him. Thereafter he will take hold of his arms and legs and throw him. People will think that the anti-Christ has thrown him into the fire, but instead he will be thrown into Paradise. The Messenger of Allah, praise and peace be upon him, added: "This man will be the greatest martyr in rank before the Lord of the Worlds."

Guarded by angels

Anyway, there are only two cities that will remain safe from Dajjal’s invasion: “Mecca and Medina”. He will try to conquer these two holy cities too, but he will fail, because “the domes in those two cities will be guarded by angels standing in rows”. The closest he gets to Medina is a place called “Sabakhah”. At that point, three earthquakes will hit Medina. The city “and its people” “will shake thrice and every unbeliever and hypocrite will be cast out”, “so that neither female nor male hypocrite remains (therein) and they will go to him (the false messiah)”. This will cleanse the city and “cast out its dirt as a fire casts rust from iron”. This day will become famous as 'The Day of Salvation.'

In response to Umm Shareek who asked: “Where will the Arabs be on that day?”, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) replied: “There will be a few on that day, most of them will be in the House of Jerusalem”. That is probably why the Anti-Christ turns his attention to Jerusalem for the final battle against Mahdi.

______________

12. Messiah, the true Messiah

It appears that there will be a lock-down in the battles in and around “the mosque in Jerusalem”. A small group of Muslims, led by Mahdi will keep fighting the False Messiah in a war that has no end. This could be because of the fact that the Anti-Christ will no longer be able to kill (as we heard in the narration regarding the young believer killed by Dajjal). Apparently he cannot be killed either (at least by normal means).
He might surround the mosque and cut Muslim’s access to food and water to defeat them in this way. Whatever happens, to solve the problem of the False Messiah, a True Messiah is needed.

The second coming

One early morning during these days of war, while Muslims are preparing to perform the Dawn prayer, “Mahdi steps forward to lead them in the Dawn prayer”. This is the blessed moment, during which the man who was born in a miraculous way and was raised to the Heaven in a miraculous way, will make his second coming in yet another moment of Allah’s miraculous glory and might. This is when “Allah, the Exalted, will send the Messiah, (Jesus) the son of Mary, peace be upon him, who will descend” “in the Mosque of Jerusalem” (or “near a white minaret to the East of Damascus”).

“Mahdi will glance to the side as Jesus, the son of Mary descends with water dripping from his hair” and “wearing two yellow dyed garments, with his hands resting upon the wings of two angels”. “He will approach Mahdi” and “the Imam will step backward” and say: “O Prophet of Allah, come, lead us in prayer.”
“But he will decline saying”: "You are princes over each other, which is the Favour of Allah to this nation”. “Go forward and pray, because it has indeed been established for you” and “the Call to Prayer has been made for you to lead”.

“So he (Mahdi) will lead them in prayer as an Imam”.

Anti-Christ’s end

The ruthless and deceiving conqueror of the world will pathetically flee by hearing the news of Jesus’ arrival. This is because he knows that he will have no chance against true Christ’s most unusual weapon; “the fragrance of his breathe”. A fragrance that “will reach the extent of his (Christ’s) sight” and “the unbelievers that smell will die”. So he escapes from Jesus’ sight, but Jesus (PBUH) “will pursue the anti-Christ and find him at the Gate of Lud and kill him”.

“We asked him: "O Messenger of Allah, how long will he (the Anti-Christ) remain on the earth?" He answered: "Forty days. One of his days will be like a year, one like a month, one like a week and the rest of his days will be like your days."“

______________

13. The promised kingdom

Anti-Christ’s followers (most of whom are Jews at this stage) will also be pursued and killed. We know that, during this specific campaign, Muslims will receive help from unusual sources. It is narrated that even if the followers of Anti-Christ “seek refuge behind a rock or a tree”, “the rock or tree calls out: 'O Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him'.” Apparently there will only be one type of tree that “will not call out” and that is “the thorny Gharqad tree”.

“Jesus, peace be upon him, will then (after killing the anti-Christ) come to the people whom Allah shielded from the anti-Christ. He will wipe away the dust from their faces and inform them of their ranks in Paradise. At that time, Allah, the High, will reveal to Jesus: 'I have brought out some of my worshipers with whom no one is able to withstand. Therefore, lead these, my worshipers, to Mount Tur (Sinai) '.”

Gog and Magog

“Then Allah will raise Gog and Magog and they are let loose and slide down out of every slope (Quran, Ch.21:96). Their advance groups will pass over Lake Tabariah and consume all its water. When its group at the rear passes near it they will say: 'At one time there was water here.' The Prophet of Allah, Jesus (peace be upon him) and his companions will descend from the Mount” and again, by the mere sight and breath of the Prophet of Allah, Gog and Magog’s army is dissolved and defeated. So the believers “will be unable to find even the space of a span of a hand free among the corpses of the followers of Gog and Magog. And their stench! Then, the Prophet of Allah, Jesus (peace be upon him), and his companions will supplicate to Allah, the Mighty, the High, and He will send birds as large as the necks of camels to carry off the corpses and drop them wherever Allah wills. After this, Allah, the Mighty, the Glorified, will send down rain whereby every dwelling, no matter whether it is constructed from clay or hair will be cleansed and become like mirrors”.

Final days

The earth, after being cleansed from the Anti-Christ and his followers and from Gog and Magog, “will be commanded to produce its fruits and return its blessings; so much so that a party of people is sufficed by sharing a single pomegranate and shelter will be found under the shade of its peel. Allah will bless the newly birthing camels in its milk so that it will suffice a large group of people, and that (the milk of) a cow will suffice a tribe and the milk of a goat will suffice a branch of a tribe”.

“people will remain for seven years with no enmity between each other” and enjoy this era of peace, happiness and prosperity. However, probably sometime during this period, the sad event of Mahdi’s passing away will happen. Mahdi (peace and blessings upon him) who will have lived among his followers for a period of not less than 7 years and not more than 10, will “die and the believers will pray for him”. “Then, there is no goodness left in life nor yet in living after him”.

We also know that another pious man will lead Muslims after Mahdi and his name is Qahtani. The hadeeth says: “Then, the Prince after him is Al Qahtani and by He who sent me with the Truth he is not lesser than him”.

______________

14. The end

The end of the believers

Anyway, not a long time after Mahdi, “Allah, the High”, “the Lord of Honour and Glory”, will send a “pure” and “cool breeze from the direction of Syria” “that will take the Muslims under their armpits whereby the soul of every believer and every Muslim will pass away” “and no one having a single particle of good or belief in their heart will remain on the face of the earth”. “Even if any of you happen to be in a mountain cave, the breeze will reach you and take possession of your soul”.

Medina, which had already shaken its unbelievers out (during Anti-Christ’s attack); will be left empty after the death of the believers. The city will be “in good condition”, but “no one will inhabit it except for wild beasts and birds”.

The end of the unbelievers

When the believers are gone, “only the worst people will remain that copulate openly with women, unabashed like donkeys”. They will be “unsettled like birds and cunning like the fox”. “They will not know any good, nor will they refrain from any evil”. “It is on such people that the Hour will commence."

But before the Hour, “Satan will appear among them disguised as a human and will ask: 'Will you not obey me?' Whereupon they will ask: 'What do you command us to do?' So he will command them to worship idols and because of this, their provision will be plentiful and their life comfortable”.

Things will come close to an end when “two shepherds from the tribe of Muzainah will come hoping to enter Medina with their goats but upon finding it full of wild beasts they will turn away. When they arrive at Thaniat Al Wada they will fall on their faces (die)."

“It is at this time that the Trumpet will be blown and everyone that hears it will turn his neck, raising it towards it. The first to hear it will be a man repairing his camel's drinking trough. He will fall unconscious with others around him. Then, Allah will send rain which will be like dew and their bodies will grow on account of it”.

The end of the world

“The trumpet will be blown a second time and people will stand, looking on. Then it will be said: 'People, come forward to your Lord.' Then there will be a command: 'Make them stand; they will be called to account!' Then it will be said: 'Separate from them those to be sent to the Fire.' It will be asked: 'How many?" So it will be said: 'Nine-hundred and ninety-nine out of each thousand (for Hell)." That will be the Day in which children turn to be gray-haired and the Day when the calamity overtakes the guilty.”

- An endless battle inside and around "the mosque in Jerusalem" goes on between Mahdi and Dajjal
- Jesus descends and joins the dawn prayer led by Mahdi
- Dajjal escapes from Jesus
- Jesus finds him at the Gate of Lud and kills him
- Followers of Dajjal will be chased by Muslims and killed
- Jesus will lead believers to Mount Tur (Sinai)
- Gog and Magog army rise and get defeated and killed

Years Fourteen to Nineteen after Arrival
- The Earth "will be commanded to produce its fruits and return its blessings".
- There will be no enmity between people
- Mahdi passes away and believers pray for him
- Qahtani becomes the leader of the believers

Year Twenty after Arrival
- A pure and cool breeze comes from the direction of Syria “that will take the Muslims under their armpits whereby the soul of every believer and every Muslim will pass away”
- Medina will be left empty and inhabited by wild beasts and birds

After that until the Hour
- Only people without "a single particle of good or belief in their heart will remain on the face of the earth”
- They “copulate openly with women, unabashed like donkeys”. They will be “unsettled like birds and cunning like the fox”. “They will not know any good, nor will they refrain from any evil”.
- Satan will emerge and command these people to idol worship in return of a comfortable life
- The trumpet is blown and everybody on Earth will fall unconscious/dead
- The trumpet is blown for a second time and all the dead rise and are sent to either heaven or hell.

very interesting post there, a couple of questions - who are the sufyani? like who will be in the evil army? and also what will be happening in europe when all this fighting is happening in the middle east? also right at the end how will the people be chosen on if they go to paradise or hell, is it based on what side they take during the battle or who they are as a person in general? wasnt it the case that earth would become paradise for 1000 yrs? that was written in another post on the wup forum.

I was really looking forward to this one.....jazakallah khair brother

Particularly after learning that a very prominent Sufi leader Shaykh Nazim announced that next year (2011) is the year of the Hajjal Akbar.....that's like T-minus less than one year from now?

This piece will serve as useful check list for important events.....

One comment though....with all these discussions on Imam Mahdi......there's very little scholarly work that maps the time-line of the Mahdi with the 10 MAJOR SIGNS of the Last Age....the only one we can know with certain degree of certainty is the sinkings of the Earth at Al-Bayda' after the Bay'ah....

The Prophet was very frank that all 10 Major Signs follow one after the other very rapidly....

Thank you.

About Sufyani, I believe what this book offers is the maximum that the two schools of Islamic thaught agree upon. For more detailed revelations about Sufyani, the person, and his campaign, you will have to refer to sources that become debatable between the two schools.

As for Europe, some interpretors believe that the term Constantinople is, in fact a reference to Europe or even West in general. It is true that Constantinople or Istanbul is a major city in a major Islamic country at the moment, but remember that for most of the written history, it has been part of the Roman Empire. So, if you go back and read the text with keeping this in mind, you may find a new side to the argument. Just remember that this is only one interpretation.

About separating people of heaven and hell from each other, what is written in the post, is as much as the original book says about the matter. But from a more general Islamic perspective, everything one does during one's lifetime, determines their destiny in the afterlife (no small or big matter will be ignored). However, latter deeds can erase the effect of the former ones in a good or bad way. Meaning some good deeds will erase the bad before them and some bad deeds will do the same to good ones. Therefore, those final decisions become more and more important.

I don't have enough information to comment about the 1000 year paradise on Earth.

I hope this helps.

I am doing a little something (with a lot of struggling) about this, solely based on this one document. To be posted on that reserved comment (second on this thread) inshaAllah.

Oh, so that's what that empty space is for.....clever!

It is quite the struggle.....the more I look into it (The MAJOR SIGNS of the Hour), the more I quake and tremble with fear.....realizing the distinct possibility that a lot of the things put out by the religious institutions is so far aloof from the realities that are about to take place (10 MAJOR Signs).

This rule of thumb applies to the 10 Major Signs, which many seem to ignore unfortunately;
Quote:
The greater signs of the Hour will follow each other so closely that there is almost no interruption between them. They would be like a pearl necklace that has been broken – its first pearl falls, followed by the others with no interruption.

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, said:

“The signs are like pearls arranged in a strand; if it breaks, they will fall following each other.”

(Related by al-Hakim, see Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah).

Many of us till today think of them as separate events....which is NOT the case as stated by the Prophet alaihi solatu wassalam....

There is a certain secret; that binds all these SIGNS of the HOUR - the secret of the FIRST RESURRECTION....
Insha Allah to be continued....

Mash'Allah very well put together... I got confused at the Hazrat Isa a.s descending in two possible places but I realized you were including the various viewpoints which I'll be keeping in mind in any case Insh'Allah.

Oh I do have one question, is the Mosque in Jerusalem that's been referred to when talking of the Final battle between the Dajjal and Imam Mahdi a.s as well as Hazrat Isa a.s be referring to Al Aqsa Mosque or Al Sakhrah Mosque (or maybe a captured Third Temple...later turned back into a Mosque by the Muslims)? I've realized that I can't find the hadith that talks of the Al Aqsa's Mosque destruction..which I think I originally read in a book by Harun Yahya years ago. Just wanted to know your opinion on that..

Sister, that's an excellent question....be warned, the scenarios are very grim.
Perhaps, an act of nature will demolish these structures?

I'm sure you are familiar with these accounts by now?
(from In the Age of the Mahdi thread: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12272&start=160 )

One of his predictions is "Cairo is going to sink underwater" [no one knew how this could happen, but later the Russians built the Aswan Dam which is contains an enormous amount of water and which has recently been found to contain loose underpinnings which are eroding]
[I've Googled this info and it checks out - IN PROGRESS]

He said, "Cyprus will sink underwater, and Mount Olympus near Bursa will explode, because under it were two elements, gas and fire which have until now been kept separate, and saints have always prayed that these elements do not combine. From its it explosion, hundreds of thousands of people will become homeless and be wounded."
[My Intuition tells me this will have something to do with the death of a Known Saint in Cyprus - IN PROGRESS....look at the seismic data in this area, Mt. Olympus is NOT KNOWN as an active volcano]

Very consistent patterns of inundations.....actually there is a narration of Hadith that tells the fate of Sham/Syrians at a time just prior to the Mahdi's appearance in Makkah:

the info has also been put up here: Three tales of the most unlikely inundations

"So do not rebuke the people of Syria but rebuke the evil people among them because amongst them is Al-Abdal. A flood is about to be sent down upon the people of Syria which will disperse their groups in such a way that if foxes attacked they would be beaten. At that time a man from the Family of my House will come under three banners; between twelve and fifteen thousand and their password is -'Die, die.' Then, there will come seven banners and under each will be one man seeking the kingdom. Allah will kill all of them and restore unity and favors upon the hearts of Muslims, and those who were far come close."

[note: apparently this series of inundations is quite close to the appearance of the saviours Imam Mahdi and Prophet Isa alaihuma salam….MAJOR Signs!]

These are the very same Abdal Awliya' who are to make the Bay'ah of Mahdi in Makkah!

A solemn reminder and putting things in perspective;

Hadith narrated by Muslim from Hudhayfah ibn Usayd al-Ghifari, who said:
Quote:
"The Prophet (pbuh) looked at us whilst we were discussing something. He said, 'What are you talking about?' They said, ' We are talking about the Hour.' he said, 'It will not come until you see ten signs ahead of it.' He mentioned

the smoke,
the Dajjaal,
the Beast,
the rising of the sun from the west,
the descent of Essa (Jesus) ibn Maryam (Mary),
Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj (God and Magog),
and three landslides, one in the East,
one in the West
and one in the Arabian Peninsula,
and the last sign is a Fire which will emerge from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering."

Most scholars agree that the Mahdi comes at time just prior to the landslide in the Arabian Peninsula.....the point I am losing sleep over is contemplating; what if the Prophet narrated these 10 signs in perfect order?

Those falling beads of pearls only waits for one signal.....

The only thing keeping me from uploading it is that I am waiting for any corrections that my brothers and sisters find necessary to apply. As soon as I am happy with the result, I will turn it to PDF and upload it inshaAllah and if I need any help for that, you will be the first person I contact.

That's the thing dear brother. In this thread, I am doing my best to stay loyal to this one collection. By this, I am accepting the consequences (i.e. ommitting some of the events), but at least, I am confident that (almost) all Muslims will find (the majority of) what is said here agreeable. This (inshaAllah) will be our common ground. Then each of us will have bits of knowledge that will add to this and can shape our conviction. Matters like Raj'ah are of that nature. Some people pray for that after every fajr prayer and some others find it heretic.

Also there are bits of knowledge that are not spread widely for a reason. They best be kept as they are. My opinion.

Yes. Al'Aqsa distruction is not mentioned in this collection, however, as said in my disclaimer, it doesn't mean that it is not correct.

Now which one is "The Mosque in Jerusalem": I believe it is the Aqsa mosque. Remember that although it was not 'officially' a mosque (meaning official Muslim's place of worship), because Muslims had not conquered the place during Rasoolullah's time, it was still called a 'Masjid' (=mosque) in Quran and we have every reason to believe that Muslims during Holy Messenger's time called it a mosque (maybe due to Rasoolullah's prayer there during his night journey?). But Al Sakhrah did not become a mosque until almost 60 years after after Holy Prophet's passing away.

In each case these two are very close to each other and a war of that scale will definitely affect both. So no one will miss it... I hope.

Here are some biography of Shaykh Ahmad Darweesh; very impeccable by any standards....
http://www.cifiaonline.com/shaykhahmaddarwish.htm

Shaykh Ahmad Darwish

Shaykh Ahmad studied at Al Azhar University in Egypt. During his youth he became devoted student of one of the great Muhadith of recent time, Al Hafidh al Hadith Sidi Abdullah bin As-Siddiq al Ghumari (r) (1910-1993). He is continuing the accomplishments of his Shaikh al-Ghumari. To know more about Shaikh al Ghumari (r), please visit their site.

http://www.alghomari.net/raisia.htm

Shaykh Ahmad Darwish is he founder of one of the first and largest Islamic websites http://Allah.com and http://Muhammad.com which are available on internet for the past 30 years. The sites are now unified and are available in three languages (i) Arabic, (ii) English, and (iii) Indonesian. They have many authentic references in English and Arabic which are currently being translated into Indonesian.

Shaykh Darwish went to the USA in early 80s after receiving an invitation from the Muhammad Ali Foundation. It was while Shaykh Ahmad was in the USA that Hafidh Abdullah (r) was also invited to USA. Shaykh Ahmad Darwish was the student of Hafidh Abdullah and the official seal of authorization of certificates of Hadith transmission for Hafidh Abdullah in the west that included close to 473 books of Ijazas.

Shaykh Ahmad spent over 25 years in Dubai, England and America teaching and researching on various subjects before returning back to Egypt to finish the work he began in Chicago, USA in 1980s with Hafidh Abdullah (r) on producing the first most comprehensive Islamic Search and Hadith Data Warehouse.

He is the first scholar in the history of science of Hadith to prove that Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal has 11,592 Hadith as per the conditions of both Bukhari and Muslim. He compiled together Sahihain of Bukhari and Muslim and Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal's famous al Musnad into one unique collection of around 40,000 Ahadiths which he distributed free of charge.

He and his wife, both full time research scholars of Dar al Hadith, currently reside in cities of Jakarta and Cairo.

Shaykh Darwish's life is totally dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of Hadith and its scholars and how modern Muslims can learn and become better Muslims in line with the way of our beloved Prophet (SAWS).

His works include the following-

* Islamic CD for free download that contains 2030 books in Arabic and 91 in English

* Article of all Shaykh's Hadith collection production – in Arabic – http://www.nokhbah.net/vb/showthread.php?t=4187

* One article containing a catalog of 160 downloadable Hadith collections all in Arabic.

http://www.nokhbah.ne/vb/showthread.php ... #post22308

* Largest Hadith collection in the world. 141,837 Ahadith from 54 books, some of them with 20 volumes each and 179,331 chains.
