Unread post What is the Islamic view on the pineal gland?
i was wondering what is the Islamic view on the pineal gland, what are ur own personal thoughts/opinion on it?

why did God put this gland which people now call it the pineal gland in our brains?

the following is some information i found about it:

The pineal gland's location deep in the brain seems to intimate hidden importance. In the days before its function as a physical eye that could see beyond space-time was discovered, it was considered a mystery linked to superstition and mysticism.

Today it is associated with the sixth chakra whose awakening is linked to prophecy and and increased psychic awareness.
Mystical traditions and esoteric schools have long known this area in the middle of the brain to be the connecting link between the physical and spiritual worlds.

To activate the 'third eye' is to raise one's frequency and moving into higher consciousness - all is a consciousness experience perceived through the Eye of Time or Third Eye. Meditation, Visualization Yoga, and all forms of Out of Body travel, open the Third Eye and allow you to 'see' beyond the physical. As you practice, you will get it faster and more frequently. Your psychic abilities will increase as well as your dream time messages. You may first begin with your eyes closed, but as you practice, you will be able to open your third eye by focusing your attention and receiving messages with your physical eyes open. Planetary vibration/frequency is accelerating exponentially, allowing souls to peer into other realms far more easily than in the past. Frequency will continue to rise until consciousness evolves out of the physical in the next few years.

Watch on youtube.com

In his amazing video lecture, "The 2012 Enigma," David Wilcock covers in great detail, many of the ancient cultures and religions that have prominently featured the pine cone in their symbolism and iconography. And the list is astounding.

These include the Sumerians, the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Hindus, the Romans, the Greeks, the Buddhists, the Meso-Americans and most particularly, the Catholic Church and the Vatican, among many others.

In fact, the Vatican has constructed an area within its grounds known as "the Court of the Pigna," or "Court of the Pine" (pictured right) and is symbolized by an extremely large statue of a pine cone that dominates the entire space. This pine cone statue is thought to be the largest of its kind in the entire world! Perhaps the Vatican knows more about the function of the pineal gland than it has so far revealed.

As the serpent-like kundalini energy moves up through the body and climbs the ladder of the chakra points, it reaches its zenith at the third eye and the pineal gland. It is during this process that the super consciousness or Divine consciousness becomes activated. As this process unfolds, it opens up the third eye, or the mind's eye, or the sixth sense, as it is known, which essentially is the all knowing, all-seeing consciousness. Again, we can clearly find the link between the eyes and the pineal gland.

Therefore, within the realms of the pineal gland may lie the secrets to anti-aging, time travel, teleportation, the astral plane, telepathy, etc., in addition to, the all-knowing, all-seeing consciousness. David Wilcock has even stated that the pineal gland may act as a personal stargate within us.

"We all have this stargate in our own brain which we access primarily through meditation and stilling of the mind," he said in a recent audio interview with Project Camelot. "(By) allowing the obstructions to fall away so that we get this sort of natural, intuitive, bubbling-up, which most people think of is daydreaming, they don't think it has any value."

"But when you go in that meditative state where thoughts just naturally surface in your mind without really having to work for them, that is actually the feed from your sub-conscious, super-consciousness, that comes through the pineal gateway," he added.

some people say that when u activate the pineal gland or third eye, u can go into other dimensions, have supernatural powers, etc, even if suppose this are lies, why for example does the vatican have a pineal gland cone statue, also if u google "pineal gland and vatican/pope" u can see a pope carrying a staff with a pineal gland symbol, what do these people know that we dont,

i think the main thing about all of this is that, why did God put this gland on our brain, for what purpose? is it to test us for example by activating it we would go into the dimension where the jinn live and therefore we would be disobeying God, or he gave us something that once unlocked could open the doors for supernatural powers, or to have a mystical experience as some sufis/catholic saints have claimed to have experienced, or is it something we will never truly know, sorry if it was a little long

Here's one idea:

Study the Sujood (prostration) stance that Muslims do everyday in the Solat....

Image

What happens to the blood flow to the head in this position?
Link that to the recent findings that the pineal gland is where the flow of blood is the strongest....

Another take would be to contemplate on those Ahlul Aabid such as IMAM ALI BIN HUSAIN AL-SAJJAD (basically those that are known pray in the wee nights); those who made a habit of en-living the night with lots of Sujood; it is known they always prefer tight spaces and conducting the solat & in the dark.

Is it any wonder that these people could 'see' much more than what we normal people see? As if they could see a wider range of light spectrum.....even when they are fully awake.

Link that to the melotonin secretion of the pineal gland in the dark.

Subhanallah, these are just tip of the iceberg.....there's so much secrets & wisdom in the simple act we call Sujood.

Greetings and peace to you,

Islam doesn’t say anything specifically about the pineal gland per-say, but Islam warns us of the consequences of communicating with the Jinn.

Quran 72:6 “And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden, sin or transgression. “

There are several methods that can be used to communicate with the Jinn, in some methods the Magi or Conjurer is in control of the Jinn, and this is referred to as Ceremonial Magick.

Other ways is what you stated above, Yoga, where the person preforming the meditation or Yoga is not in control of the Jinn, and rather they open themselves up to deception, and Jinn attacks(i.e. possessions or Mess)

Not to mention that Yoga is self-worship, or the” inner god” if you like, in short the Ego, that many New Age, Hindus, and general Eastern religions speak about.

Take care.

One more thing I'd like to add, didn't the Prophet sollallahu alaihi wasallam also informed us that the Solat is the Mi'raj - ascension for the Believer? And that there's no other stance/position more dear and more closer to Allah when His servant is in Sujood position?

The lesson from the Prophet's Mi'raj - in that it is possible to be in direct presence of Allah Most High without veils (hijab) a Station that not even Angels could attain....being in this state of 'seeing' and being in direct presence, other matters of djinn communication, special abilities or what not become petty issues.....whilst they are all very much attainable.

assalamo alaykom brother asralfarhi, and I hope you and yours are at peace, and blessings, ameen.

My view is Sujood is more of a grounding rather than an elevation, when looked at from the Astral Planes. Ofcourse Sujood is a direct link to the Almighty, but it’s in a surrender position, rather than an elevated one.

I think that’s amazing when you view it this way, everything makes a lot more sense.

Ego Vs. Surrender.

God bless.

Asralfarhi, I beleive you are missing the point.

As for the Miraj issue, can you find the reference? I mean, we can't just take your word for it.

Miraj, for the Nabi pbuh, was a physical experience. He "ascended" and travelled, he never mentions that he travelled in the mind as far as I am aware, which - by your pineal gland definition, you are implying. Maybe you are reading too much into it. The creative cortex of the brain is a wonderful thing eh?

Hi,

This is an interesting subject, the 'Pineal Gland', & what role it plays in the human body, or even 'used to' play ?

I like the connection made to Salah, the 5 daily prayers of Muslims.. as this is even more interesting!

Allah says in the Quran, he made mankind from 'Clay'

Surah 15:26 " We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape "

The word used for 'clay' is 'salsaal' from the root word > Sad-Lam-Sad-Lam

= to resound, clash, be dried up, emit a sound. sallatun - sound, clank, dry earth. salsaal - dry ringing clay, sounding/dried clay.

What's fascinating, is that the root word - Sad-Lam-Sad-Lam is just before the root word - Sad-Lam-Waw

which is where the word for Salah (prayer) comes from !!

Sad-Lam-Waw = prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached.
In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse’s body that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely / remains attached).
Central portion of the back, portion from where the tail of an animal comes out, the rump

One of the properties of 'Clay' is that it contains 'Magnetite'

"Magnetite is a ferrimagnetic mineral, one of several iron oxides and a member of the spinel group... It is black or brownish-black with a metallic luster... Magnetite is the most magnetic of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth. Naturally magnetized pieces of magnetite, called lodestone, will attract small pieces of iron, and this was how ancient people first noticed the property of magnetism.

Lodestones were used as an early form of magnetic compass. Magnetite typically carries the dominant magnetic signature in rocks, and so it has been a critical tool in paleomagnetism, a science important in discovering and understanding plate tectonics and as historic data for magnetohydrodynamics and other scientific fields.

The relationships between magnetite and other iron-rich oxide minerals such as ilmenite, hematite, and ulvospinel have been much studied, as the complicated reactions between these minerals and oxygen influence how and when magnetite preserves records of the Earth's magnetic field.."

Crystals of magnetite have been found in some bacteria (e.g., Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum) and in the brains of bees, termites, fish, some birds (e.g., the pigeon) and humans.[7] These crystals are thought to be involved in magnetoreception, the ability to sense the polarity or the inclination of the Earth's magnetic field, and to be involved in navigation.
(wikipedia)

As is evident from the above text, the human body must be in sync with the energies of the earth, & the earth Sun Moon system, when performing Salah & MUST be aligning itself to a geomagnetic field which has been prescribed by Allah, as all Muslims across the world, must face the Kaaba, to perform Salah.. !

It makes me think, if the Black Stone, housed within the Kaaba, also contains Magnetite ?

RE : the Hajar Aswad

excerpt taken from wiki:

Quote:
Elsebeth Thomsen of the University of Copenhagen proposed a different hypothesis in 1980. She suggested that the Black Stone may be a glass fragment from the impact of a fragmented meteorite that fell some 6,000 years ago at Wabar, a site in the Rub' al Khali desert some 1,100 km east of Mecca. The craters at Wabar are notable for the presence of blocks of silica glass, fused by the heat of the impact and impregnated by beads of nickel-iron alloy from the meteorite (most of which was destroyed in the impact). Some of the glass blocks are made of shiny black glass with a white or yellow interior and gas-filled hollows, which allow them to float on water.

Interesting, but further geological analysis is hard to come by...

Asalamalaikum brothers,

I think in a way we elevate (to a higher status) by surrendering ourselves (to Allah most High).
Because of Ego we cannot elevate. By surrendering we punish our ego and reach a status of elevation.
New age ideologies claiming elevation also, mostly connected with the pineal gland or third eye as they call it...chakra's etc...What can i say, what they perceive as elevation or ascension could be a Jinn-trip ( Jinn-trip?! :o ). Major shirk involved with most of those ideologies. Almost claiming to be God(s). So that kind of elevation id rather avoid. Elevation through surrendering and obeying to Allah's supreme laws. Thats the kind of elevation one should strive for. And yes salah is the Mi'raj - ascension for the Believer.

Allah most high knows best.

Why don't we look at the word Sajood & its root ?

Siin-Jiim-Dal = lowly, humble, submissive, worship, adore, prostrate, make obeisance, lower/bend oneself down towards the ground, lower the head, to salute/honour/magnify, to pay respect, to stand up, to look continuedly and tranquily.

MSJD - parts of a man that are the places of SJD, e.g. forehead/nose/hands/knees/feet etc. Any mode/place/practice in which the act of SJD is done.

Indeed, HE does.

And yes, Sister MaryJane, I would like to read your take on the word Sujood.

My two dinars worth: When I am in Sujood, I can feel HIM close, and I don't want to leave. But I don't experience anything that shows me the heavens, the expanse of the earth, or the mysteries of the world, I don't meet prophets... I just know that closeness to HIM. And that is special. Taqwa, that HE is watching me at all times, and I am in full realisation of this when in Sujood. And My heart sees HIM.

Can you provide me an Islamic reference from Quran or Hadith which claims (or explains how) Sujood is ascension. I find it fascinating that the term is used this way...

Do you mean "my take" on the meaning of the word Sajood ?

As I've posted the meaning of the Arabic root word...

& I take it your question is to the previous poster, not me ?

Asalamalaikum,

I do not view ascension as viewing the heavens, the expanse of the earth, meeting prophets etc...
I believe it is a status. Mankind has a difficult job. It is a hard test. Submission to Allah elevates us from a heap of flesh to a status higher then angels. But if you feel higer then the angels, then you are deceived. You need to stay humble. And only Allah knows our true intentions.

Wasalaam
